GREENSBORO, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's tennis team lost its first dual match of the season, 7-0, at UNC Greensboro on Friday afternoon inside the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
The Eagles start the season 0-1 while the Spartans begin 1-0.
UNCG won all six singles matches in straight sets and swept doubles.
NCCU's lineup consisted of senior No. 1
Miles Clark (L, 6-3, 6-3), senior No. 2
Amit Baran (L, 6-1, 6-2), senior No. 3
Sebastian Pino (L, 7-6, 6-3), freshman No. 4
Oliver Saarinen (L, 6-3, 6-4), sophomore No. 5
Shaka Cristellotti (L, 6-2, 6-2) and junior No. 6
LaQuon Gilchrist (L, 6-0, 6-2).
The tandem of Pino and Saarinen had NCCU's closest match, losing 7-5 in the middle doubles bout. Pino also had the most singles points for the maroon and gray with nine games won.
NC Central (0-1) is next scheduled to play at Duke University on Sunday at 6 p.m.
