Sophomore setter
Lauren Janok became the first NCCU volleyball player to record a triple-double in a match in the program's NCAA Division I era in Tuesday's match at UNCG. Janok completed the rare accomplishment with career-high totals of 33 assists, 15 digs and 10 kills. Janok currently ranks in the top-10 of the MEAC in three statistical categories with 8.00 assists per set (3rd), 0.56 aces per set (2nd) and 3.06 digs per set (9th).
Senior middle hitter
Ammaarah Williams, who is a Preseason All-MEAC selection, is second in the MEAC with a .412 hitting percentage as she leads the maroon and gray with 1.11 blocks per set and ranks second on the team with 2.28 kills per set.
Senior outside hitter
Arlanda Faulkner tops the squad with an average of 2.83 kills per set. Faulkner has had at least eight kills in all five of NCCU's matches, including a season-best 13 kills against the Aggies to begin the season.
Redshirt sophomore
Alyssa Pieh and senior
Celene Morris are highlighting NCCU's defensive efforts with averages of 4.28 and 3.39 digs per set, respectively.
NC Central will be playing UNC Asheville for the first time since 2016.
N.C. A&T COURT:
The Aggies, who just joined the Big South this summer, picked up one win out of three matches at the Aggie-Spartan Invitational last weekend. N.C. A&T (3-3 Overall) defeated Norfolk State University around a pair of losses to American University and UNCG.
Fifth-year senior setter Edie Brewer highlights NCAT's roster after earning MEAC Player of the Year each of the last two seasons. Brewer is already averaging 4.96 assists, 2.67 digs, 1.50 kills, 0.54 blocks and 0.33 aces per set this season.
Freshman outside hitter Naiya Sawtelle has taken over the team lead on attack to start her rookie season, averaging 3.67 points per set, which includes 3.00 kills, 0.63 blocks and 0.33 aces per set.
Sawtelle had a team-best 10 kills in a 3-1 win at NCCU on Aug. 31 while Brewer supplied 18 assists, 13 digs, eight kills and four aces in that triumph.
UNC ASHEVILLE COURT:
The Bulldogs dropped a trio of straight-set matches at the Golden Eagle Invitational last weekend, losing to Valparaiso, South Alabama and Tennessee Tech. UNC Asheville (1-4 Overall) will play co-host Elon on Friday before completing against the Eagles on Saturday.
