McKayla Young recorded a season-high seven kills and sophomore setter
Lauren Janok tallied her fifth double-double of the season to highlight play for the North Carolina Central University volleyball team in a 3-0 loss to Long Island University (LIU) on Saturday afternoon in the Duke Classic at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Senior Jovana Stekovic blasted 16 kills in leading the Sharks to the 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 victory. LIU improved to 3-9 on the season.

Abby Vacha paced the Eagles on the attack for a second straight day, finishing with nine kills. Senior
Arlanda Faulkner followed closely with eight kills. Young added two blocks (one solo) to her seven kills for 8.5 points.
Janok registered her double-double with a match-high 22 assists and 13 digs. Redshirt sophomore libero
Abby Vacha led the maroon and gray with 14 digs.
Faulkner had four kills on eight attempts to keep NCCU in the first set, but a 4-0 run by the Sharks to take a 22-15 lead helped LIU secure the opening set by six points. The Sharks started the middle stanza on a 7-1 run to race out to their largest set win of the match. LIU completed the sweep by having its best hitting set of the match in the third, finishing the final frame with a .382 hitting percentage.
NC Central (1-8) will next begin Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play on Friday when the Eagles host Morgan State University in McDougald-McLendon Arena at 6 p.m.
