NCCU Men's XC Team Wins UNCW Beach Bash
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University cross country teams returned to action in impressive fashion, earning a combined six top-10 finishes at the UNCW Beach Bash, hosted by UNC-Wilmington on Friday night.
The men's unit won the 5k event behind four top-10 finishes and a combined 1:27:52 mark. Senior
Juan Rodriguez led the pack and finished first in the event with a time of 16:59.95. Sophomore
Leroy Scarver crossed the line with a time of 17:13.78 to earn third place. Other top-10 marks for the Eagles included senior
Ashton Drake and junior
Isaiah Hunter who placed seventh and tenth respectively.
For the women, freshman
Victoria Swepson placed third in the 5k after finishing the course in 20:28.39 minutes. Junior
Ariana Harrell posted a time of 21:19.71 to earn seventh place.
The Eagles next competition will be the Adidas XC Challenge on Sept 17.
