Green Sets New NCCU Record at NCAA East Regional Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Earl Green broke North Carolina Central University's Division I record in the men's 400-meter hurdles during the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Championships on May 26-29 at the University of North Florida.

In the first round of the 400m hurdles on Wednesday, Green finished third overall with a personal-best time of 50.58 seconds to advance to the quarterfinals. Green's time is the fastest by an Eagle since NCCU reclassified to Division I in 2011.

In the 400m hurdles quarterfinals, the MEAC bronze medalist was unable to get set in the blocks and missed the start at the gun; therefore, he did not finish the competition.

NCCU senior Marvin Jones finished tied for 37th place in the men's high jump with a 2.06-meter leap. During his senior season, he achieved five top-five finishes with three wins, including a gold medal at the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
