ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Junior
Ammaarah Williams led all players with 13.5 points to pace the North Carolina Central University volleyball team to a season-opening 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division victory at South Carolina State University on Thursday evening.
The Eagles recorded 12 aces and hit .433 as a team in rolling to the 25-7, 25-11, 25-14 triumph.
Williams finished with seven kills, three aces and five blocks (two solo, three assists) for her 13.5 points.
NCCU (1-0 Overall, 1-0 MEAC) scored the first nine points of the match and was never threatened in its ninth straight win over South Carolina State (0-1, 0-1).
Junior
Jasmine Sanders topped the Eagles with 10 kills. She blasted her 10 kills on 17 attempts without an error for a .588 hitting percentage. Junior
Arlanda Faulkner added six kills, senior
McKayla Young tallied five kills and sophomore
Abby Vacha netted four kills.
The hot-hitting maroon and gray attack was orchestrated by freshman setter
Lauren Janok, who nearly posted a double-double in her collegiate debut with 27 assists and nine digs.

Celene Morris provided a match-high 11 digs for the Eagles while Janok and senior
Yomaries Villegas followed with nine apiece.
Faulkner, Villegas and sophomore
Alyssa Pieh all served up two aces to follow the three aces recorded by Williams.
Jess Beanard led the Lady Bulldogs with four kills.
NC Central will conclude its two-match series against South Carolina State with a Friday matinee at 1 p.m.
