NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month: Arlanda Faulkner


DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior outside hitter Arlanda Faulkner has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2021 in recognition of her outstanding performance on the court and in the classroom.
 
Faulkner averaged 3.46 kills per set with a .206 hitting percentage in nine matches in the month of October. She reached double digit kills in seven of those contests, including a season-high 20 kills in a 3-2 win at Morgan State University on Oct. 22.
 
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference named Faulkner the MEAC Player of the Week twice (Oct. 18, Nov. 1) for her strong play in two of the four full weeks that month.
 
Faulkner finished her senior season averaging 2.96 kills per set, which ranks sixth in the league.
 
The resident of Goldsboro, North Carolina, earned a pair of postseason awards, including All-MEAC Second Team honors and 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Volleyball Team.
 
Faulkner boasts a 3.60 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a public health education major at NCCU. She has been on the Dean's List every semester and is a member of SAAC, SADD, SOPHE and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Faulkner plans to use her degree to make a difference in low socioeconomic communities, and pursue a Master of Arts in ministry.
