BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – North Carolina Central University found it tough going on the road, as Gardner-Webb came away with an 83-58 decision at Paul Porter Arena on Monday, Nov. 29.
NCCU (2-5) suffered a near five-minute drought in the first half without a field goal, while GWU (4-3) shot 63.3 percent from the floor to take a 49-21 lead at the break.
The Eagles improved their shooting in the second period, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit opened by the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Eric Boone (Lexington, Ky.) led NCCU with eight points and seven rebounds, and both
Randy Miller Jr. (Odenton, Md.) and
Asanti Price (Columbia, S.C.) each scored a team-high nine points.
GWU had four players reach double-digits, led by D'Maurian Williams (Phoenix, Ariz.) with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Zion Williams (Maybrook, N.Y.) with 10 points and seven boards.
The Eagles will remain on the road to face USC Upstate on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
