WBB GAME NOTES: NC Central at Nebraska Saturday


DURHAM, N.C. — For the second time in two weeks, the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team is going on the road to play a team from the Big Ten Conference when the Eagles play University of Nebraska on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. (12 p.m. CST)

NC CENTRAL BENCH:
 
The Eagles were held to a season-low 37 points on just 17.5-percent shooting from the field in their last game, a 66-37 loss at VCU on Wednesday. NCCU (0-3) is in the midst of a season-long, eight-game road swing.
 
Sophomore Tianna Carter scored a season-high 10 points to take over the team scoring lead with an average of 8.7 points per game. Carter also paces the Eagles with 7.7 rebounds per game.
 
Seniors Necole Hope and Ashlyn Lockard also average eight points per contest.
 
Sophomore Paris McBride tops the maroon and gray with 2.7 assists per game and sophomore Taylor Williams is coming up with two steals per outing.
 
NCCU has committed over 20 turnovers in all three of its losses.
 
NEBRASKA BENCH:
 
After three consecutive wins by more than 50 points, the Cornhuskers were able to remain undefeated on the season with a much-closer 67-62 win over in-state foe Creighton on Wednesday. Unlike the Eagles, Nebraska (4-0) has yet to go on the road this season.
 
Sophomore forward Isabelle Bourne, who was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection as a rookie, leads the Huskers with of 14.5 points per game. Sophomore guard Jaz Shelley, a transfer from Oregon, has taken over the team lead in rebounding by pulling down an average of 8.3 boards per contest. Freshman Alexi Markowski (10.0 PPG) joins Bourne and Shelley (10.5) as 10-plus point average scores for Nebraska this season.
 
SERIES:
 
The Eagles are playing Nebraska for on the second time in program history. The Huskers secured the win in that only meeting with an 88-47 triumph in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Nov. 21, 2015.
