SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Memphis begins the 2021-22 season with its highest preseason poll ranking since 2011 as they have been placed 12th by the Associated Press.  The Tigers went 20-8 last season, and were crowned the champions of the 2021 NIT after defeating Mississippi State, 77-64.  Memphis was picked to finish second in the American, behind Final Four participant, Houston.  The Tigers kicked off the season with an 89-65 win over Tennessee Tech, and were led by freshmen Emoni Bates with 17 points, and Jalen Duren with 15 points and six boards.  This will be the second meeting between the Eagles and Tigers, with Memphis coming away with the victory in 2014.

CALDWELL, FOUR THREE!
Alex Caldwell got off to a hot start at Richmond in the season-opener on Nov. 9, as he went 4-for-4 from downtown on his way to a career-high 17 points.  The last time an Eagle had a perfect game from downtown was when Deven Palmer also went 4-for-4 on the road at Coppin State on Feb. 8, 2020.
