DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior wide receiver Ryan McDaniel has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2020 in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
McDaniel boasts a 3.547 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at NCCU and has played in 21 games over his first two seasons with the Eagles.
After transferring to NC Central from Tulsa University, McDaniel's sophomore season was highlighted by a 55-yard touchdown reception against Edwards Waters College. He then topped the Eagles with 39 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns as a junior.
McDaniel has averaged over two catches per game for the maroon and gray for an average of 11.0 yards per catch.
The Sugar Land, Texas, resident was named to the 2020 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Commissioner's All-Academic Team in 2020.
McDaniel is a kinesiology major at NCCU with a concentration in sports medicine. He plans to finish his requirements for graduation at the end of the summer, then attend graduate school to study psychology in aspiration to be a sports psychologist. McDaniel helps teach youth sports in Durham and Apex.
