GREENVILLE, N.C. — East Carolina University won a pair of home matches on Saturday, including a 7-0 non-conference sweep of visiting North Carolina Central University at the River Birch Tennis Complex.
 
The Pirates won all six singles matches in straight sets and only lost three games in doubles as they moved their record to within one match of .500 at 5-6.
 
Juniors No. 2 
Frida Cnossen (L, 6-2, 7-6) and No. 6 
Polina Sakharova (L, 7-5, 6-3) won the most games in singles play for the Lady Eagles with eight apiece.
 
Also competing in singles for NC Central was junior No. 
Maru Berghaus (L, 6-2, 6-0), sophomore No. 3 
Hannah Gaines (L, 6-3, 6-4), sophomore No. 4 
Ivana Dragovic (L, 6-4, 6-1) and senior No. 5 
Sofia Miller (L, 6-1, 6-1).
 
Miller and Berghaus lost the closest doubles match, dropping the middle bout 6-2.
 
NC Central (1-5) returns home to host Western Michigan University on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
