WASHINGTON, D.C. — The North Carolina Central men's tennis team won all nine matches contested to secure a flawless 7-0 non-conference dual match victory over host and fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member Howard University Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Sebastian Bromley had the most dominating performance for the Eagles as he only lost one total game between singles and doubles action. Bromley coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph in the sixth slot in NCCU's lineup after pairing with classmate
Pablo Juez Torres for a perfect 6-0 conquest in doubles.
Sophomore
Thanos Spyropoulos and junior
Miles Clark remained in a tie for the team-lead in singles wins as they both moved their individual records to within one match of .500 at 4-5 apiece. Spyropoulos (7-5, 6-5) had to win a pair of close sets atop NCCU's lineup while Clark (6-1, 6-2) carded his triumph in the fourth position.
Juez Torres (6-1, 6-2) and sophomore
Amit Baran (6-2, 6-1) joined Clark in losing just three games in their singles conquests.
Sophomore
Christos Dagklis found himself in a three-set affair. Howard senior Cole Gittens took the first set on the second court before Dagklis was able to rally to take the battle by a margin of 3-6, 6-1, 10-4 for his third singles win.
The Bison remained winless on the season at 0-4.
The Eagles, who improved to 2-7, started their victorious day by only losing four games in doubles. Spyropoulos and Dagklis rolled to a 6-1 win atop the order; Clark and Baran tallied a 6-3 triumph in the middle match; and Bromley and Juez Torres had their sweep.
NC Central (2-7) will next return to the Hilton Head Spring TennisFest and will play three matches in the big event over spring break.
