LYNCHBURG, Va. – North Carolina Central University's indoor track and field teams accumulated two victories and seven top-5 finishes in their return to Liberty University to compete in the Darius Dixon Memorial on Feb. 14-15.
 
NCCU junior Bhrandi Crenshaw leaped to victory in the women's triple jump with a distance of 12.52 meters. That mark is her best of this indoor season.
 
Also soaring to victory was current MEAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week, NCCU junior Marvin Jones in the high jump with a career-best 2.10m. This marks Jones' third high jump win of 2020. Jones also won the Camel City Invitational and the JDL January College Kick-off.
 
Both NCCU men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams finished in the top 5. The women dashed to a fourth-place performance with a time of 3:53.47. The men sprinted to a fifth-place finish in 3:18.20.
 
Current MEAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, NCCU junior Gordon Lewis, placed fourth in both the men's 200m and 400m races. In the 200m, he ran a 21.27, and in the 400m, he ran a 48.19.
 
Eagle senior Corneisha Mitchell had the best performance among the college competitors in the women's weight throw. Mitchell posted an 18.78m mark and just missed her personal-best of 18.81 that she made at the JDL January College Kick-off earlier this year.
 
The Eagles return to action at the MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Landover, Maryland, on Feb. 20-22.
