DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University football wide receiver
Daeshawn Stephens has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2019 in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
Stephens accumulated nine receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns in the final month of the season. He averaged 14.1 yards per catch over that span.
The redshirt junior pass receiver provided Eagle fans with some Homecoming highlights with three catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns against Norfolk State University.
Stephens finished the season second on the team with 354 receiving yards on 28 catches for an average of 12.6 yards per catch.
The local Durham resident was voted to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Football Team.
Stephens boasts a 3.82 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a mass communications major. He is graduating in May, but plans to attend graduate school to get his MBA. Stephens is the events chair for the NCCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a member of the Habitat for Humanity chapter at NCCU and part of Lambda Pi Eta communications national honor society. He also holds a prayer circle every Monday at 4 p.m. at the on-campus Student Union, on behalf of the New Wave college ministry for any students in need of prayers.
