BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Sophomore setter
Celene Morris had a strong performance for the North Carolina Central University volleyball team in a 3-0 non-conference road loss at Campbell University Friday evening.
The Camels hit over 40-percent for the match on the way to the 25-14, 25-15, 25-15 triumph. Campbell (1-4) picked up its first win of the season.
NCCU (0-4) will make its home debut on Saturday, hosting Campbell at Noon and Wofford College at 5 p.m.
NCCU HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Morris tallied a season-high 18 assists to pace the Lady Eagles. Her balanced stat line also included a six digs and a .429 hitting percentage with three kills.

Christine Alcox paced NCCU's attack with six kills and sophomores
Estfania Louis and
Jasmine Sanders followed with four kills apiece. Alcox led the maroon and gray with two aces.

Yomaries Villegas contributed a team-best seven digs while classmate
McKayla Young was part of three of NCCU's five blocks (one solo, two assists).
CAMPBELL HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Sophomore Sarah Colla, who is the reigning Big South Freshman of the Year and First Team All-Big South honoree, had a hot hand for the Camels. Colla blasted 21 kills on just 28 attempts without an error for a .750 hitting percentage. The victors hit .407 as a team with Colla accounting for nearly half of the Campbell's kills.
SET-BY-SET:
1ST: An ace by Alcox had NCCU up early, 3-1. The Camels surged ahead and were clinging to a 15-12 lead when Campbell scored the next seven points to pull away.
2ND: The Lady Eagles flew out to a 5-0 lead that featured another ace and a kill by Alcox, who's second kill of the set had NCCU holding onto a 10-8 edge. Campbell responded with a 10-1 run catapult ahead before winning by 10 after hitting .500 in the frame.
3RD: The Camels completed the sweep by jumping out 10-3 in the third. NCCU was only able to cut the deficit to five points from that point.
