ELON, N.C. — North Carolina Central University sophomore setter
Celene Morris filled up the box score with 23 assists, seven digs, three block assists, two aces and two kills in a 3-0 road loss at Elon University Tuesday evening.
The Phoenix (2-5) won in straight set scores of 25-18, 25-11 and 25-20.
NCCU (0-7) returns home to host the University of North Dakota on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Morris has posted double-digit assists in all seven matches this season after recording 23 helpers against Elon. Her three block assists and two aces are both season-high marks for the product of Rockford, Illinois.

Alyssa Pieh topped NCCU's defenders with nine digs.

Sophomore Leah Daniel led all players with 14 kills. She also hit .462 for the match as the Phoenix attacked at a strong rate of .323. Classmate Kellyn Trowse flirted with a double-double with nine kills and a team-best eight digs.
Junior Kodi Garcia logged 22 assists.
