DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University women's track and field senior sprinter/jumper Kiana Seabrook has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2019 in recognition of her outstanding performance on the track and in the classroom.
 
Seabrook medaled twice in the 2019 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships to cap a very successful month. She earned bronze in both the long jump and the 4x400-meter relay.
 
The Lady Eagles had their best team finish in the MEAC Indoor Championships in NCCU's Division I era, placing sixth place with 41 points. Seabrook was a part of 16 of those points.
 
Seabrook earned a bronze medal in the women's long jump with a career-best leap of 5.73 meters. She returned to the medal podium with teammates senior Bethany White, sophomore Tyresha Alexander and freshman Olivia Andrews, as the quartet secured their bronze medals after posting a third-place time of 3:48:46 in the 4x400-meter relay. Seabrook also earned four team points with her fourth place finish time of 56.88 seconds in the finals of the 400-meter dash.
 
The resident of Alexandria, Virginia, returned to her home state to start the month off with her first career long jump win. Seabrook won the long jump at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at Liberty University with a leap of 5.60 meters.
 
Seabrook boasts a 3.611 cumulative grade point average (GPA) midway through her senior year as a criminal justice major with a concentration in juvenile justice. She has a passion for working with at risk youth and plans on becoming a juvenile specialist after she graduates from NCCU. Seabrook is an active member of Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society, a multiple MEAC All-Academic selection, an NCCU Women's Track & Field Players' Choice Award winner and Debra Saunders-White Leadership Award honoree.
