CARBONDALE, Ill. – North Carolina Central University saw Southern Illinois knock down 10 three-pointers in the first half to open up a lead on the way to a 64-48 win over the Eagles on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Banterra Center.
SIU (3-4) made its first seven treys to set the tone for the game as the Salukis stretched out a 42-28 lead over NCCU (2-5) at the midway mark. The Eagles did put together a 7-0 run at the tail end of the half that was sparked by five points from
Jibri Blount (Pittsburgh, Pa.).
Blount finished the first half with 12 points, and finished with a game-high 21 points with a scooped up a game-best seven boards as well. He also swiped a career-high tying five steals.
Ty Graves (Greensboro, N.C.) found his range as he knocked down three triples for nine points for the maroon and gray.
Marcus Domask (Waupun, Wis.) led the Salukis with 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Barret Benson (Willowbrook, Ill.) followed with 17 points and six caroms.
The Eagles will play three more games on the road before returning to McDougald-McLendon Arena, and the road trip will continue on Monday, Dec. 2 at Wofford.
