ATLANTA – Record-breaking North Carolina Central University quarterback Earl "Air" Harvey has been announced as a member of the induction Class of 2020 for the Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF).
Harvey is among six inductees selected from a list of 26 finalists who were determined earlier by the BCFHOF Selection Committee.
A four-time First-Team All-CIAA selection from 1985-88, Harvey set NCCU, CIAA and NCAA Division II records for career pass completions (690), career passing yards (10,621), career total offense (10,667) and career touchdown passes (86). He broke 15 NCAA Division II career records, including consecutive games throwing a touchdown pass (22) and most touchdowns responsible for (106), and held eight NCAA Division II single-season records.
He was a finalist for the Harlon Hill award, recognizing the NCAA Division II football player of the year, in 1986 (fifth) and 1988 (third).
As a 1988 American Football Coaches Association All-American, Harvey guided the Eagles to the second-round of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
The Class of 2020 includes Harvey, James Hunter (Grambling State), Robert Mathis (Alabama A&M), Erik Williams (Central State), Coach Joe Taylor (Howard, Hampton, FAMU, Virginia Union), and Commissioner Dennis Thomas (MEAC).

"Everyone that has vote to determine the next class understands how difficult it is to only choose six. The Class of 2020 is a great representation of the talent that has come from Historically Black Colleges & Universities."
Votes were tallied from the 12-member selection committee, comprised of prominent journalists, commentators and historians, as well as former NFL General Managers and executives, and from previous BCFHOF inductees to determine the inductees.
The Class of 2020 will be honored at the 11th Annual Black College Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Presented by the Atlanta Falcons on Feb. 22, 2020. The induction ceremony takes place at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
The inductees will also be recognized at the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 21.
