CARY, N.C. – Sophomore
Ashton Drake placed 15th to help lead North Carolina Central University to a fifth-place finish out of 13 men's teams at the Cedric Walker HBCU Cross Country Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary on Saturday morning.
Drake achieved a time of 31:02.1 on the 8k course as the 15th runner to cross the finish line out of 91 competitors.
Other top performers for NCCU were
Kazelee Johnson (26th/31:57.9),
Mackenson Yrelus (30th/32:18.0) and
Joshua McLean (31st/32:18.5).
In the women's race, NCCU sophomore
Ashley Jean-Raymond earned a medal by placing third with a time of 19:08.5 on the 5k course.
Up next, NCCU travels to Greenville, North Carolina, for the ECU Pirate Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18.
