NCCU’s Codrington Named MEAC Football Specialist of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University freshman Brandon Codrington has been selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week for his performance during the Eagles' 30-23 win over Delaware State on Saturday, the MEAC announced on Monday (Oct. 28).

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Codrington responded to the Hornets' game-tying score with less than a minute remaining in the contest by returning the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for the game-winning touchdown. In all, he returned three kickoffs for 107 yards, and three punts for 12 yards.

Codrington also tracked down Delaware State's Corahn Alleyne from behind on his 54-yard kickoff return to prevent a touchdown.

Codrington's heroic return is the first kickoff return for a touchdown by NCCU since Sept. 5, 2015.

The Broughton High School product is averaging 25.4 yards per kickoff return and 6.8 yards per punt return. He has also collected five tackles during his rookie season.
