CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sophomore
Arlanda Faulkner netted 9.5 points for the North Carolina Central University volleyball team in a 3-0 non-conference road loss at Charlotte on Tuesday.
The 49ers set a record with 77 digs in a three-set match on the way to the 25-15, 25-18, 25-16 victory. Charlotte improved to 13-11 on the season.
NC Central (5-19) will return to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play against defending league champion Howard University on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Eagles had a balanced attack with Faulkner pacing the hitters with eight kills. Sophomore
Jasmine Sanders added seven kills and junior
McKayla Young followed with six kills.

Celene Morris tallied her 12th double-double and sixth straight with 27 assists and 11 digs. Junior libero
Yomaries Villegas recorded a team-best 13 digs and sophomore
Isis Mitchell matched Morris with 11 digs.

Senior Yumi Garcia set a school record with 31 digs as four 49ers reached double-digit digs in their record-setting 77-dig performance.
Junior Sydney Rowan led all players with 17 kills.
1ST SET: Charlotte hit .368 in the opener on the way to its most convincing win of 10 points.
2ND SET: The 49ers led from the onset for a second straight set with Garcia lifting up 12 of her 31 digs in the middle frame.
3RD SET: A kill by Sanders on the opening play of the set gave NCCU its lone lead of the match. Charlotte rattled off the next five points to rush ahead for the rest of the way.
