DURHAM, N.C. — Freshman setter
Isis Mitchell recorded a double-double for the North Carolina Central University volleyball team in a 3-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division loss to visiting Florida A&M University Sunday afternoon.
The league runner-ups from 2017 hit .247 for the match to stay undefeated in the conference with the 25-15, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19 victory. Florida A&M moved to 3-13 overall and 2-0 in the league.
NC Central (3-10, 1-1) next hosts Charlotte in a rescheduled match on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.
NCCU HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Mitchell, who returned to the lineup after injury, totaled 26 assists and 11 digs for her second double-double in just five matches. She also served up two of NCCU's four aces.

Morgan Goodwin led the maroon and gray with nine kills. Classmate
Arlanda Faulkner scored eight kills while senior
Whitney White and junior
Jessica Pilivi each hammered down six kills. NCCU hit .113 as a team.

Erika Ianovale both added 10 digs as four Lady Eagles reached double-digit digs.
FLORIDA A&M HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Junior Radka Dimitrova smashed down nearly half of her attempts on her way to a staggering 24 kills. She only committed one error on 49 swings for a .469 hitting percentage. She also had 15 digs for a double-double.
Junior Maria Yvett Garcia contributed 15 kills. Junior setter Elena Dimitrova added 48 assists and 12 digs. Senior Valentina Carrasco came up with 19 digs.
SET-BY-SET:
1ST: FAMU used a 7-2 run midway through the set to take control and then finished the opener with six consecutive points to win by 10.
2ND: The two teams battled closely with eight ties and five lead changes early, but a 5-0 outburst gave the Rattlers a 15-10 lead that they never relinquished.
3RD: NC Central controlled most of the set to extend the match. White, Goodwin and Pilivi all had three kills as a balanced attack lifted the Lady Eagles to the four-point win.
4TH: Dimitrova took over the final set to finish off the match in favor of the guests. She ripped 12 kills on just 16 swings with no mistakes for a .750 hitting percentage. FAMU hit .366 as a team to win by six.
