BALTIMORE, Md. — Freshman middle blocker
Morgan Goodwin produced a match-high 14.5 points in leading the North Carolina Central University volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Delaware State University in the Lady Eagles' final match of the Charm City Classic Saturday.
The Lady Eagles snapped a six-match losing streak while preventing the Hornets from winning their second-straight match in the weekend event. NCCU improved to 2-8 and DSU dropped to 2-15.
NC Central next plays at East Carolina University on Tuesday.
NCCU HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Goodwin used 11 kills and five combined blocks (two solo, three assists) to complete her 14.5-point performance. Goodwin hit .318 for the match and helped the Lady Eagles to a .315 mark as a team, which is a new team-best percentage on the season.

Christine Alcox matched Goodwin with 11 kills while freshman
Arlanda Faulkner posted her second straight double-digit kill outing in the Charm City Classic with 10 spikes. Senior
Whitney White chipped in seven kills as both White and Alcox hit .400 on the day.
Freshman setter
Celene Morris orchestrated the hot-hitting NCCU attack with 33 assists. Seniors
Erika Ianovale and
Bree Simmons paced the maroon and gray defense with 11 and seven digs, respectively.
DELAWARE STATE HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Sophomore Kiera Hotzclaw topped the Hornets with 10 kills while freshman setter Milexa Cardona flirted with a double-double by supplying 28 assists and seven digs.
SET-BY-SET:
1ST: NCCU never trailed despite six ties. DSU pulled within two at 20-18 before the Lady Eagles sealed the opener with a 5-1 run that featured a kill and a closing ace by Faulkner.
2ND: Once again NC Central never trailed, but it took to the midway point for the Lady Eagles to soar away to their most lopsided win. With the score deadlocked at 13-all, NCCU rattled off the next six points on Ianovale's service rotation before closing the middle game on a 12-3 surge. Alcox had six kills on eight swings in the set.
3RD: A kill by Alcox on NCCU's fourth attempt at match point secured the extended 28-26 final set. Alcox had a big period with six kills and four digs. The Hornets had one chance at extending the match with set-point at 25-24, but a Goodwin kill kept the set alive for the Lady Eagles.
