ELON, N.C. — Senior middle blocker
Whitney White hit .556 with a team-high five kills for visiting North Carolina Central University in a 3-0 loss to Elon University in the Phoenix Classic Saturday afternoon.
The Phoenix controlled the whole match with set scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-15. Elon improved its unbeaten record to 6-0. The Lady Eagles slipped to 1-4 will conclude play in the Phoenix Classic against University of Evansville at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
NCCU HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
White added two block assists to her five kills to finish with six points. Her five kills came on just nine swings and she did not commit an error. Freshman
Morgan Goodwin (.143) was the only other NCCU player to hit in the positive with three kills. Junior
Jessica Pilivi added four kills.

Celene Morris netted a second straight double-double with 17 assists and 10 digs. Senior libero
Erika Ianovale made a match-high 14 digs.
ELON HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Senior Kam Terry blasted 11 kills over the first two sets with a .385 hitting percentage to top Elon's attack. The Phoenix hit .261 for the match and got 10 more kills from freshman Leah Daniel.
The hosts had 14 players see court time with sophomore setter Kodi Garcia supplying 22 assists and senior libero Maddie Jaudon totaling 13 digs.
SET-BY-SET:
1ST: The Phoenix won the first three points and never trailed. Elon had its best hitting set at .276 and Terry ripped half of the 10 Phoenix kills on the way to the 15-point set win.
2ND: A couple early kills by Alcox followed by a pair of tandem blocks by Goodwin and Morris kept NCCU close in the early stages at 11-8, but Elon used an ensuing 9-1 to pull away. The Phoenix secured the win by a dozen points and scored 15 of its 25 points on the attack, including another six spikes by Terry.
3RD: An ace by junior
Kennedy White had the score even for a third and final time at 6-6 before a 7-1 run pushed the Phoenix ahead for good. Elon racked up 17 more kills in the 10-point set win for 42 total kills in the sweep.
