ELON, N.C. – Freshman
Ashley Jean-Raymond achieved the best finish for the North Carolina Central University women's cross country team by placing 33rd out of 67 runners at the Elon Opener on Friday (Aug. 31).
In the first meet of the season for NCCU, Jean-Raymond (Copiague, N.Y.) posted a time of 15:54 on the 4k course. Fellow freshman
Sierra Beasley (Greensboro, N.C.) was the next Lady Eagle to cross the finish line, placing 59th with a time of 19:28.
The NCCU men were topped by freshman
Ashton Drake (Nokesville, Va.) in 55th place out of 73 competitors with a time of 21:20 on the 6k course. Freshman
Kazelee Johnson (Nashville, N.C.) finished 66th in 23:00.
In the team standings, the NCCU women finished eighth and the NCCU men seventh.
Up next, NCCU makes the short trip to Cary for the adidas XC Challenge on Sept. 14.
