IRVING, Texas – North Carolina Central University senior punter
Nathaniel Tilque has been named as a member of the 2018 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society for his outstanding accomplishments on the gridiron and in the classroom.
Tilque, a graduate of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, wrapped up his standout four-year college career (2014-17) by breaking the NCCU record with 10,007 career punting yards. He ranks third in school history with a 39.6-yard career punting average, and regularly pinned opponents deep in their own territory, placing 83 punts inside the 20-yard line with only 19 touchbacks.
As a senior, Tilque was voted to the All-MEAC First Team and earned BOXTOROW All-America Honorable Mention recognition. He averaged 39.9 yards per punt, while placing 26 of his 68 punts inside the 20-yard line (38.2%) with only six touchbacks. The team captain also completed his only career pass attempt for a 27-yard first down conversion at Hampton.
The physics major boasts an overall grade point average of 3.573, and will earn his undergraduate degree from NCCU on May 12. After graduation, Tilque plans to be commissioning as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps to become a pilot.
