DAVIDSON, N.C. — Sophomore
Carter Williams led the North Carolina Central University baseball team with two hits, one RBI and one run scored in a 10-2 road loss at Davidson College on Wednesday evening.
Eight of the Wildcats' 10 runs were scored by runners who reached base by walks, hit pitches or errors. Davidson improved to 11-5 on the season.
Williams reached base three times with a walk and two singles. He scored the Eagles first run in the fourth and drove in the second run in the seventh. NCCU dipped to 12-6 after losing its third straight game.
The Wildcats scored an unearned run in the second and two walks scored in the third to increase the hosts advantage to 3-nil.
Williams drew a leadoff walk in the top of the fourth and later scored on a sac fly by junior
Chris Wright to put the maroon and gray on the board. However, Davidson tacked on four runs in the bottom of the frame and then three more in the sixth to pull away at 10-1.

Andrew Valichka led to NCCU's other run in the seventh. After a sophomore
Corey Joyce Walk, Williams plated Valichka with a single through the right-side of the infield.

Dominic Cuevas matched Williams with two hits apiece as the Eagles outhit the Wildcats, 10-6. NCCU left 14 runners on base, including bases-loaded opportunities in the first and sixth.
Sophomore Ward Coleman was the only Davidson batter with two hits on the day. Coleman and junior Eric Jones did most of the damage for the Wildcats with three RBI apiece.
NCCU returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division play when the Eagles entertain reigning league champion Bethune-Cookman University in a three-game weekend series at the Durham Athletic Park that features a Saturday doubleheader and a Sunday final. Games will start at 1 p.m. both days and admission is free.
