Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – North Carolina Central University ran into a precise-shooting South Carolina State team as the Eagles fell 102-79 at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on Saturday, Feb. 24.
 
The opening stanzas of the contest went back and forth as both NCCU (14-14, 8-6 MEAC) and SCSU (10-19, 6-8 MEAC) exchanged one-point leads, but the Bulldogs were eventually able to pull away in the middle stages. 
 
The Bulldogs were extremely hot from the floor in the first half, making 62.5 percent of their shots, and 61.5 percent of their three-point attempts.  Donte Wright (Jackson, S.C.) knocked down six treys in the first 20 minutes for 20 points, as SCSU went 8-for-13 from the perimeter.  Raasean Davis (Chicago, Ill.) was right with him with 13 points for the Eagles in the first half.
 
SCSU continued its three-point barrage after the intermission by making an additional 5 for a total of 13 made threes at a rate of 52 percent on the way to a 102-79 final.
 
Dominique Reid (Sicklerville, N.J.) came alive after the break with 13 of his team-high 15 points, and Larry McKnight, Jr. (North Miami, Fla.) did the same with 10 of his 12 points coming after the intermission.  Pablo Rivas was the fourth Eagle in double figures with 11 points, and Jordan Perkins (Greensboro, N.C.) was also a notable for NCCU with a game-high seven assists.
 
Wright finished with a game-high 29 points for SCSU, and James Richardson (Darlington, S.C.) followed him with 19.  Janai Raynor-Powell (Virginia Beach, Va.) collected 13 point with seven rebounds, and Ian Kinard (Clinton, S.C.) wasn't far behind with 12 points and five boards.
 
This is the first time the Eagles have allowed 100 points since Feb. 26, 2009 in a 109-89 loss at Longwood.
 
The Eagles will finish the road schedule on Monday, Feb. 26 against Savannah State before returning home to face North Carolina A&T in the season closer on Thursday, March 1 at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
