DURHAM, N.C. — Senior middle blocker
Whitney White smashed down a dozen kills to lead the North Carolina Central University volleyball team to a 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division conquest of visiting South Carolina State University Sunday afternoon.
The 25-15, 25-14, 25-12 victory keeps the Lady Eagles in a league playoff position heading into the final week of the regular season. NC Central (6-17 Overall, 4-5 MEAC) will host archrival North Carolina A&T State University for its Senior Night on Thursday at 6 p.m.
NCCU HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
White blasted her 12 kills on just 20 attempts with only one error for a .550 hitting percentage. She added three blocks (one solo) for 14 points.
Two other Lady Eagles reached double-digit points. Freshman
Arlanda Faulkner filled up the box score with nine kills, 13 digs, two aces and two block assists for 12 points. Classmate
Morgan Goodwin also had nine kills while providing four block assists for 11 points.

Isis Mitchell supplied 29 assists and six digs. Senior libero
Erika Ianovale netted 13 digs and two service aces.
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Sophomore Alexus Holt topped the Lady Bulldogs with eight kills and six digs. Freshman setter Kyra Marshall chipped in 10 assists and junior libero Taylor Smart tallied 12 digs. SCSU dropped to 1-24 and 1-7.
SET-BY-SET:
1ST: NCCU scored 15 of its 25 points on the kill, including five by Faulkner. The Lady Eagles constructed a commanding 18-6 lead before settling for the 10-point win.
2ND: White had a monster set with eight kills on 13 swings with no errors for a .615 hitting percentage. NC Central had the visitors doubled up early, 10-5, and kept pulling away to the 11-point triumph.
3RD: NCCU hit .421 in the final frame to cruise to its most lopsided set win of 13 points. The Lady Bulldogs scored the first point before the Lady Eagles soared ahead with the next eight points on senior
Bree Simmons' service rotation. Five kills by Goodwin helped finish off the sweep.
