DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team will prepare for a season long four-match home stand with a non-conference match at East Carolina University on Tuesday. The midweek matinee between the Lady Eagles and Pirates will take place in Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum at 4 p.m.

N.C. Central Volleyball
The Lady Eagles return to the court for the first time in a week after hosting Gardner-Webb University in their home opener last Tuesday. NCCU (0-10) lost the match 3-1, its fourth consecutive four-set loss.
Freshman hitter
Da'Nesha Miller leads the maroon and gray with 2.03 kills per set. The junior duo of
Whitney White and
Kierra Shipman each chip in an average 1.68 kills per set. Newcomers in junior
Erika Ianovale and freshman
Christine Alcox follow with 1.36 and 1.32 kills per set, respectively.
White has NCCU's top hitting percentage at .270 and Shipman ranks highest with 0.19 aces per set. Junior middle blocker
Jazmine Daye, who tallies 1.32 kills per set, has a team-best 0.73 blocks per set. She is followed closely by White's 0.70 blocks per set.
A trio of Lady Eagles average over two digs per set. Junior libero
Bree Simmons top the groups with 3.82 digs per set. Freshman
Nahir Berrios Laguerre lifts up 2.67 digs per set and Miller contributes 2.27 digs per set.
Senior
Paige Phillips has played every set at the setter position and is handing out 7.46 assists per set.
NCCU last played East Carolina in its 2015 home opener and was swept 25-21, 25-22, 25-13. Phillips nearly had a double-double in that tilt with 26 assists and nine digs.
East Carolina Volleyball
The Pirates are even more rested than the Lady Eagles with a 10-day break since last hosting the ECU Classic on Sept. 8-9. The Pirates are 6-4 with a couple five-set losses.
Senior outside hitter Lael Ceriani leads East Carolina with 3.75 kills per set and 0.28 aces per set. Freshman Bri Wood (2.78 kills/set) and senior Natalie Montini (2.17 kills/set) supply over two kills per set and all three of the Pirates top attackers have hitting percentages over .270.
Sophomore Toya Osuegbu is making 1.09 blocks per set and Montini tallies 0.94 blocks per set.
A rookie in Shelby Martin has taking over the primary setting duties for the Pirates and she registering 7.81 assists per set. Sophomore libero Brandee Markwith is in her second season at ECU's libero and she is scooping up 5.33 digs per set.
East Carolina is 5-0 against NCCU since the Lady Eagles joined the NCAA Division I ranks in 2007.
