DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team will make its home debut on Tuesday when the Lady Eagles host Gardner-Webb University at 6 p.m.

N.C. Central Volleyball
The Lady Eagles dropped a trio of four-set matches at the Phoenix Classic this past weekend to Norfolk State University, Charleston Southern University and host Elon University. NCCU (0-9) went 2-6 at home last season.
Freshman right-side hitter
Da'Nesha Miller is the reigning MEAC Rookie of the Week after being named to the Phoenix Classic All-Tournament. Miller, who averaged over two kills and two digs per set in the event, leads NCCU with 2.35 points per set.
Juniors
Kierra Shipman and
Whitney White follow Miller with 1.68 and 1.67 kills per set, respectively. White adds 0.67 blocks per set for over two points per set. A total of six Lady Eagles average over one kill per set, including junior
Erika Ianovale (1.34), junior
Jazmine Daye (1.26) and freshman
Christine Alcox (1.19).
Senior setter
Paige Phillips has been producing 7.33 assists while junior libero
Bree Simmons tallies 3.50 digs per set.
NCCU lost a narrow 19-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-11 match at Gardner-Webb on Sept. 1. Shipman led the Lady Eagles with 10 kills and she was followed closely behind by Ianovale and White, who had nine kills apiece.
Gardner-Webb Volleyball
The Runnin' Bulldogs have leveled their overall record at .500 with three wins at the East Carolina University Classic his past weekend, defeating The Citadel (3-1), ECU (3-2) and Hampton University (3-0). Gardner-Webb is 5-5 overall.
Senior Kaelyn Dyson averaged 2.36 kills per set with an impressive .333 hitting percentage. Dyson, who led the Runnin' Bulldogs in blocks per set last season, is averaging 0.90 blocks per set this year.
Freshman Joy Rhodes is quickly providing Gardner-Webb with additional firepower, averaging 1.89 kills and 0.30 aces per set. Two other players are averaging over two kills per set in senior Nicole Celarek (2.23) and junior Kiera Moore (2.08)
Other team leaders include Moore with 1.26 blocks per set; junior setter Amanda Sahm with 7.03 assists per set; and sophomore Emma Milstead with 4.28 digs per set.
Gardner-Webb is 8-0 against NCCU since the Lady Eagles joined the NCAA Division I ranks in 2007. Moore (14 kills), sophomore Molly Johnston (12 kills) and Rhodes (10 kills) all hit double-digit kills as the Runnin' Bulldogs rallied to the 3-2 win against NCCU this season. Sahm added 39 assists as Gardner-Webb hit .232 in the match.
