NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has announced the 2017 Softball All-Academic selections, with North Carolina Central University having seven of its eligible upper classmen earning that distinction for academic success during the 2016-17 academic year.
Ninety softball student-athletes qualified for MEAC All-Academic success in 2017 from its 13 member institutions.
The Lady Eagles that made the list were senior first baseman/designated player
Brianna Hampton, senior second baseman/pitcher
Jennifer Allison, senior catcher
Kim Mobley, senior outfielder
Charity Best, junior first baseman/designated player
Fallon Roberson, sophomore outfielder
Miriam Duen and sophomore shortstop
Janeen Reynolds.
"On behalf of the conference, I commend our softball student-athletes who have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average during this academic school year," said MEAC Commissioner Dr. Dennis E. Thomas. "I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the institutional and athletic academic support staff, coaches and parents who all played a vital role in the success of student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom."
MEAC sophomore, junior and senior student-athletes with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average (GPA), as well as transfer student-athletes who have been in residence at the institution for at least one year, are eligible for All-Academic accolades.
