DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University softball senior
Dominique Wilson has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2017 in recognition of her outstanding performance on the diamond and in the classroom.
A native of Mooresville, North Carolina, Wilson made nine appearances with seven starts inside the pitching circle during the third month of the year, earning three complete-game wins, amassing 35 strikeouts and posting a 3.32 earned run average.
She opened the month with consecutive pitching triumphs, including a shutout victory over Rhode Island in which she allowed only three hits and struck out six batters. In her third win of March over Maryland Eastern Shore, Wilson recorded a career-best 12 strikeouts.
At the plate, the right-handed slugger collected four hits, including a home run, in five at-bats during a doubleheader at Radford.
Wilson is on track to graduate from NCCU in December with a degree in exercise sport science. She is planning to attend physical therapy school after graduation.
