Box Score FAIRFAX, Va. – North Carolina Central University jumped out the gate to a lead, but George Mason rallied to get in front, and held the lead for the rest of the game for a 77-65 final on Saturday, Dec. 9 at EagleBank Arena.
NCCU (4-7) won the opening tip and scored first, and took the lead as
Raasean Davis (Chicago, Ill.) scored the first six points for the Eagles. That turned into a theme as Davis was the go-to man for NCCU all game.
Mason (5-5) went on a 6-0 run to take the lead and didn't give it back for the remainder of the contest on the way to a 77-65 final.
The Eagles made a few runs during the game, and were able to cut the lead down to single-digits in the second half, mainly led by Davis's game-high 21 points along with eight rebounds.
Pablo Rivas (Colon, Panama) was also a factor for the Eagles with 13 points and five rebounds.
Jordan Perkins (Greensboro, N.C.) filled the stat book with nine points, six assists and five rebounds.
Mason had four players score 10+ points, led by Otis Livingston II (Linden, N.J.) with 17 points, and he was followed by Justin Kier (Grottoes, Va.) with 14 points and five assists. Jaire Grayer (Flint, Mich.) collected 10 points and eight rebounds, and Goanar Mar (Mankato, Minn.) finished with 13 points and four boards.
NCCU finishes its road trip at Grand Canyon on Monday, Dec. 11, before heading back to Durham to host McNeese State on Thursday, Dec. 14.
