Davanta Reynolds has been named to the 2017 Associated Press FCS All-America team, becoming the first NCCU Eagle to earn post-season accolades from the Associated Press since 2006.
A native of Tucker, Georgia, Reynolds tied for second in the nation (FCS) with a conference-high six interceptions for 141 return yards and a touchdown, including a 31-yard touchdown at Florida A&M, while also returning a fumble 85 yards for a touchdown against South Carolina State, which was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter Top-10 Plays. The First-Team All-MEAC honoree tallied 54 tackles (35 solo), including 2.5 stops for a loss with a sack, along with a forced fumble and a pass break-up.
In his three-year NCCU career, Reynolds has 125 tackles (79 solo), 11.0 hits for a loss, 16 passes defended (8 interceptions [2 TD], 8 pass break-ups), three defensive touchdowns, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery (85-yard TD).
The last time NCCU had representation on an Associated Press All-America football team was in 2006, when Robert Duncan and Sam Funches were recognized on the NCAA Division II list as offensive linemen.
