DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team will be trying to move over .500 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) standings when the Lady Eagles make the short trip over to Greensboro to play rival North Carolina A&T State University on Friday at 6 p.m. in Moore Gymnasium.

The Lady Eagles have won three of their last five matches, including their last match at Savannah State University on Monday, Oct. 16. NCCU (3-15 Overall, 3-3 MEAC) returns to action for the first time in 11 days after defeating the Lady Tigers 25-18, 25-14, 25-18.
Freshman
Christine Alcox is the reigning Co-MEAC Rookie of the Week after suppling 10 kills, 11 digs, five aces and one block assist in the straight-set sweep of Savannah State. Alcox is averaging 1.74 kills per set on the season.
Fellow freshman
Da'Nesha Miller paces the Lady Eagles with 2.13 kills per set. She's also second on the team with 2.33 digs per set.
Junior
Whitney White provides NCCU with 2.30 points per set, including 1.86 kills and 0.72 blocks per set. White maintains a team-best .287 hitting percentage (fifth in the MEAC).
Miller (2.57 kills/set), Alcox (2.48 kills/set) and White (2.29 kills/set) are all scoring more kills in league play.
Senior setter
Paige Phillips has five double-doubles and is averaging 7.53 assists (sixth in the MEAC) and 2.11 digs per set. Junior Libero
Bree Simmons has reached double-digit digs in 12 matches and is totaling 3.59 digs per set (seventh in the MEAC).
NCCU dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to North Carolina A&T in the first meeting on Sept. 28. Alcox and junior
Kierra Shipman led the Lady Eagle attack with 14 kills apiece. Phillips notched a double-double of 39 assists and 15 digs while Miller flirted with her own after totaling nine kills and a match-high 18 digs.
North Carolina A&T Volleyball
The Aggies will be playing on Friday with one more day of rest – a dozen days – than NCCU. North Carolina A&T (11-11 Overall, 3-2) last played on Oct. 15 in a 3-0 road loss at Florida A&M University. The Aggies are a combined 7-3 against league members from both the Northern and Southern Divisions.
Senior Samara Brown was a First Team All-MEAC performer last year. She is averaging 2.22 kills and 2.03 digs per set in her final season. Classmate Jasmine Lindor, who is averaging 1.41 kills per set, is supplying 0.91 blocks per set (fifth in the MEAC) and a .235 hitting percentage (10th in the MEAC).
A pair of sisters have been major contributors to the Aggie attack. Freshman Courteney Pitt tops the squad with 2.25 kills per set while senior Alyssa Pitt averages 2.11 kills per set.
Freshman Edie Brewer has taking over the setting duties for the Aggies and she ranks third in the MEAC with 0.46 service aces per set and 10th in the conference with 5.90 assists per set.
Brown and Courteney Pitt topped NCAT's attack in the 25-16, 18-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-10 win at NCCU last month with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Brewer flirted with a triple-double with nine kills, 31 assists and eight digs. Freshman libero Milanna Morgan, who is averaging a team-best 2.69 digs per set, led their defensive efforts with 17 digs in the triumph.
