GAME NOTES: #NCCUMBB Heads to Norfolk State and Hampton for First MEAC Road Games

DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central University hits the road for its first two MEAC conntests away from Durham, visiting both Norfolk State and Hampton on Jan. 14 and 16.  The game against Hampton on Jan. 16 will be televised live on ESPNU at 7:00 p.m., and will also be available on WatchESPN.  The Eagles fell in the only matchups with both squads last season.

STARTING FIVE:
1. 9-5 is NCCU's best non-conference record in the Division-I era.
2. NCCU's five-game win streak that was snapped by ECU was the longest since the 2014-15 season with a 10-game and nine-game run.
3. NCCU is 328-276 all-time against the MEAC.
4. Coach Moton is 74-24 all-time in regular season MEAC play
5. NCCU went 7-9 in conference play last year.
 
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS:
Norfolk State is currently 1-1 in MEAC play, after picking up a win against Savannah State, 80-76 on Jan. 11.  Jonathan Wade is the standout player for the Spartans at the moment, averaging 18.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest.  The Eagles met the Spartans only once in the 2015-16 season, and fell 79-88 in Durham.  This is the only scheduled meeting between the two teams this season.
 
SERIES: NSU leads, 11-29.
 
SCOUTING THE PIRATES:
Hampton has won its first two MEAC contests, most recently defeating Savannah State in a close 84-80 victory.  Before taking on the Eagles, the Pirates will travel to Delaware State on Saturday, Jan. 14.  Jermaine Morrow leads Hampton with 15.0 points and 3.0 assists per outing.  Hampton defeated the Eagles in their only game last season, 80-79, and this is the only matchup this year.
