DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University softball team will play seven games in four days during spring break, including one game at Georgia Institute of Technology on Monday and doubleheaders at both Alabama A&M University and Presbyterian College on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, before returning home for a twin bill against University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Thursday.
All seven games will be carried live on the NCCU Sports Network, with Mike Wood on air with the play-by-play. Live stats and/or video ($) will be available for select games. Fans can also get updates on Twitter by following @NCCUAthletics.

Markell Wylie leads the Lady Eagles with a .341 average and is tied for the team lead in runs scored at six apiece with sophomore shortstop

London Booker (1-7) captured NCCU's first pitching win of the season on Friday and has a 6.49 ERA with a team-high 27 strikeouts in 41 innings. Junior
Jennifer Allison (0-7, 6.70 ERA) has hurled the most innings for the Maroon and Gray at 47 frames.
Georgia Tech Softball The Yellow Jackets have lost five of their last six games to open up Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, dropping to 5-14 on the season.
Freshman Katie Krzus has recently been seeing starting time at first base and is boasting a .412 average in seven games. Junior outfielder Samantha Pierannunzi, who led the Jackets in average last season, tops Georgia Tech's regular starters with a .309 average, 11 runs and three home runs.
The Yellow Jackets have only used two pitchers this season in freshman Jenna Goodrich (1-5, 3.29 ERA) and sophomore Emily Anderson (4-9, 4.00 ERA).
Alabama A&M Softball The Lady Bulldogs enter the week with the same record as NCCU at 1-18 overall.
Sophomore Tiana Sanders tops Alabama A&M's lineup with a .302 average and eight RBI. Sophomore Imani Largin follows with a .268 average and nine runs scored.
An 11.12 ERA by the Lady Bulldogs pitchers has equated to an average of nearly nine runs allowed per game.
Presbyterian Softball The Blue Hose had a five-game win streak come to an end in a doubleheader loss to UNC Greensboro on Sunday. Presbyterian will still host the Lady Eagles with a winning overall record of 12-10.
Thru 20 games, a trio of Blue Hose are batting over .300 in freshman Megan Anderson (.368, 6 HR, 17 RBI, 9 R), junior Hope Rogers (.358, 7 HR, 15 RBI, 12 R) and junior Kelsie Sanchez (.340, 5 HR, 9 RBI, 13 R). Presbyterian is averaging over one home run per game.
Katie Brown (6-3, 3.34 ERA) and Sydney Seigler (4-4, 3.40) are the Blue Hose primary pitchers, with one those two arms being the deciding hurler in 17 of their first 20 contests.
Maryland Eastern Shore Softball The Hawks are 4-8 and have lost their last five games. UMES will play Savannah State and South Carolina State before visiting Durham on Thursday.
The fellow MEAC member from the Northern Division has a .258 team batting average with seniors Vanessa Gomez and Trenece Nash both batting .333. Freshman Daeshia Jones tops the Hawks with a .375 average in fewer games while sophomore Tesharra Hill is the fourth UMES batter over .300 at .304. Gomez – a preseason First Team All-MEAC selection – leads the team with 10 RBI 11 runs scored and three stolen bases.
UMES (6.74 ERA) has a slightly higher team ERA than NCCU (6.20 ERA) using three pitchers.
