DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University softball team will face its first fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference member institution on Friday when the Lady Eagles host Howard University in a non-conference doubleheader at Parkwood Athletic Field beginning at 1 p.m.
Both games will be carried live on the NCCU Sports Network, with Mike Wood on air with the play-by-play.

AUDIO North Carolina Central University Softball The Lady Eagles are coming off a 6-1 loss to Charlotte in their home opener on Wednesday. NCCU held a strong 49ers squad that is receiving votes nationally to just one run over the first five innings before Charlotte was able to pull away late. The Lady Eagles dropped to 0-17 after the loss.
Junior pitcher
Jennifer Allison is coming off arguably her best performance and currently maintains a 6.48 ERA in 10 appearances. Senior
London Booker has also toed the rubber in 10 games and she has a 6.36 ERA. Junior
Dominique Wilson was a preseason All-MEAC selection and holds a 5.68 ERA but has not pitched since February 21 due to injury.
Senior third baseman
Markell Wylie continues to lead the Maroon and Gray at the plate with a .333 average and a .409 on-base percentage. The leadoff hitter is riding a six-game hit streak.
Wilson has a .240 average and junior second baseman
Jenny Tracy has a team-high three doubles to go along with a .233 average. Senior catcher
Casey Hargett was an All-MEAC selection last season and is batting .205, which is the same average held by sophomore shortstop
Danyelle Noland, who leads NCCU with five runs scored. Allison moved her average up to .143 after getting two base knocks on Wednesday and senior first baseman
Kayleigh Brueck (.136) pacese the Lady Eagles with one home run and three RBI.
Defensively, NCCU has committed 32 errors in 17 games for a .931 fielding percentage.
NCCU is a part of the MEAC Southern Division in softball and has not played Howard, a Northern Division member, since fifth year head coach
Theresa Stephens has been managing the Lady Eagles.
Howard Softball The Bison picked up their first win of the season in a doubleheader split at University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Wednesday. Howard (1-11) has played all 12 of its games on the road.
Senior outfielder Al-Asia Davis, who was a First Team All-MEAC honoree last season, leads the Bison with a .387 batting average and three stolen bases. Sophomore catcher Brooklyn Emory follows with a .318 average and junior utility Imani Ballard sports a .290 average while leading Howard with six RBI after hitting the team's first home run on Wednesday.
Senior pitcher Janessa Flynn (1-1) secured HU's first pitching win with a complete-game effort against the Retrievers. However, younger sister junior Alex Flynn (0-7) has tossed majority of the innings pitched by the Bison arms. Sophomore twins Tara Castellanos (0-2) and Lauren Castellanos (0-1) account for Howard's other pitching losses.
