#NCCUWBB Hosts Rival North Carolina A&T Saturday


DURHAM, N.C. – Home court with an anticipated large crowd will be an advantage that the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team hopes will help propel the Lady Eagles to a big win over Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) archrival North Carolina A&T State University when the two programs meet for the 38th time Saturday at 2 p.m.

SERIES: North Carolina A&T leads the all-time series 30-7. The Aggies have won the last 11 match-ups, including both contests last season.
 
NCCU (3-15, 2-6) remained winless on the road this season with a 55-45 loss at Florida A&M Monday. However, the Lady Eagles are 3-3 at home. NCCU has lost its last three games to slip to 11th place out of 13 teams in the MEAC standings. Junior guard Morgan Jones continues to pace the Lady Eagles in several statistically categories by averaging 11.3 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Senior forward Tisha Dixon, who was one rebound shy of her third double-double of the season on Monday, is providing 10.2 points per game and a team-best 7.2 rebounds per contest. Senior guard Kristin Askew chips in 7.8 points per game and joins Jones as a strong perimeter shooter. Jones and Askew are combining for over 3.0 made 3-pointers per game.
 
NCAT (10-10, 6-3) is coming off a dominating 60-31 home win over Savannah State last Saturday. The MEAC preseason favorite Aggies boast a 6-2 ledger in the New Year to move up to fourth place in the league standings. Senior Aprill McRae -- a two-time All-MEAC selection -- is shooting 52.8-percent from the field and leads N.C. A&T with 12.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Junior Dana Brown pours in 11 points per contest, including an average of 2.1 made 3-pointers. Sophomore Kala Green provides 8.9 points and a team-best 1.9 steals per game. Senior Christina Carter adds 8.0 points per game from the point, while ranking second in the MEAC with 4.3 assists per game.
