Complete Game Notes (PDF) THE GAME: NCCU takes to the hardwood at McDougald-McLendon Arena for the final time this season as the Eagles host Savannah State. NCCU already defeated the Tigers in Savannah, Georgia back in January, so the Eagles will be going for the season sweep in this contest.
THE CONFERENCE PICTURE:-AS IT STANDS: NCCU is currently in sixth place in the MEAC, and if the conference tournament started today, NCCU would play #11 Delaware State on Monday, March 7.
-IF NCCU WINS THE REMAINING GAMES: The Eagles can finish as high as fifth in the conference at 8-8, which would place them in the first round against the #12 team on Monday, March 7. The way the standings are now, that could be one off any four teams.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS:-Savannah State went 9-22 during the 2014-15 season with a 5-11 conference record and finished 11th in the league. The Tigers were defeated by Delaware State 64-58 in the first round of the MEAC Basketball Championships.
-The Tigers are pushed by Troyce Manassa (Mobile, Ala.) who leads the team in scoring with 13.2 points per game along with 4.8 rebounds per game. Christopher Martin (Upper Marlboro, Md.) leads the squad in assists with 2.4 per contest along with 12.4 points per game, and Brian Pearson (Monroe, Ga.) pulls in a team-high 5.3 boards per outing.
-Savannah State snapped a four-game losing streak with a 75-68 win over North Carolina A&T last time out at home. Manassa and Martin went for a game-high 19 points apiece, with Manassa reeling in a game-high eight rebounds.
