MIAMI, Fla. – Florida International University amassed 490 yards of total offense, including 242 yards and three touchdowns passing by quarterback Alex McGough, as the FIU Panthers cruised to a 39-14 victory in their home-opener over North Carolina Central University on Saturday night.
FIU (2-1) held the visiting Eagles to just 209 total yards, including only 38 yards rushing.
Senior quarterback
Quinn Billerman came off the bench to provide an offensive spark for NCCU (1-2), completing 15-of-28 passes for 149 yards with two interceptions.
LaVontis Smith finished with eight receptions for 86 yards for the Eagles, while senior running back
Idreis Augustus had a team-high 46 rushing yards with a 1-yard touchdown.
NCCU's other touchdown came via an interception by
Jaquell Taylor, who raced 26 yards into the end zone.

After playing back-to-back FBS opponents, NCCU gets a week off before hosting its first conference game against Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. inside O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
