PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team allowed its opponent to hit over .300 for the fifth time this season in a 3-0 neutral-site loss to Manhattan College Saturday morning in the UMES Fall Fling.
The Jaspers (6-5) moved back over .500 with the 25-20, 25-11, 25-17 conquest to snap a four-match losing streak. The Lady Eagles (0-11) only hit .043, while allowing Manhattan to fire at a .349 mark.
NCCU HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:Junior outside hitter
Kelsey Murphy bounced back from her lowest offensive output on Friday with an 11-kill performance against Manhattan. Murphy only committed three errors on 33 attempts for a .242 hitting percentage.

Marilyn Sherbondy made a team-high eight digs; and White chipped in three block assists.
MANHATTAN HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:Senior Claire Van Dyk posted a match-high 13 kills. Classmate Teodora Peric setup the hot-hitting Jaspers attack with 31 assists, while just missing a double-double with eight digs. Junior libero Allie Yamashiro led all players with 12 digs.
SET-BY-SET:1ST: The Jaspers scored the final three points in a close opening set to win by five (the largest lead of the game). Manhattan led for most of frame but NCCU kept pulling to within two points numerous times late, including kills by White and Rossip, but the Lady Eagles were unable to get any closer. Murphy had five kills on 11 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage. Van Dyk led Manhattan squad that hit .455 in the set with six kills.
2ND: The Jaspers jumped out 7-0 and coasted to a 14-point win as NCCU committed twice as many hitting errors (12) compared to kills (6). Monroe paced triumphant Manhattan with five kills on seven swings.
3RD: NCCU won the first two points of the final frame and led as late as 7-6 on a blast by Rossip. Manhattan went on a 7-2 run to regain the lead for good but three Jasper errors pulled the Lady Eagles within two at 14-12. The period remained close with a freshman
Jazmine Daye kill pulling NCCU within three at 19-16 before Manhattan closed out the match winning six of the next seven serves.
OTHER NOTES, STATS & FACTS: Manhattan picked up the win in the first meeting between the two programs.
The Jaspers .349 hitting percentage against NCCU was third highest hitting percentage allowed by the Lady Eagles defense. NCCU has only held an opponent under a .200 hitting percentage one time in 11 matches.
