NCCU STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: EMERIE GERM

Softball Senior Posts .478 Batting Average in March; Boasts 3.72 Grade Point Average

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University softball senior catcher Emerie Germ has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2015 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
 
Emerie Germ 2015A native of Canton, Georgia, Germ posted a .478 batting average and a .710 slugging percentage during the month of March with 33 hits, 17 runs scored, 14 RBI, five doubles, a triple and three home runs in 22 games, all as a starter.
 
In her best outing of the month during a doubleheader sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore on March 19, she hit 6-for-7 at the plate with a double, a home run, five RBI and three runs scored.
 
Earlier in the season, she celebrated Valentine's Day by blasting a three-run home run to beat Virginia in the program's first win over an ACC team. Later the same day, she belted a pinch-hit, game-winning three-run home run to beat Delaware State.
 
Germ boasts a 3.72 grade point average as a theatre major at NCCU. The 2014 recipient of the NCCU Department of Theatre and Dance Award for Excellence in Academics, she is active in performing arts and has committed her time outside of academics and athletics towards advancing her acting career.
