Darlene Girardeau posted a career-best leap of 5.87 meters to place second in the women's long jump at the Duke University Invitational on April 10-11.
Girardeau (Hope Mills, N.C.) finished behind event winner Teddi Maslowski of Duke (6.20m), but beat out the rest of the 12-person field representing Liberty, NC State, North Carolina, Duke and NCCU.
Other top performers for NCCU were
Jonathan Williams and
Deontae Williams in the men's 100-meter dash, who placed third (10.75 seconds) and fourth (10.89), respectively.
Jonathan Williams also placed fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 21.91 seconds.
In the men's 110m hurdles,
Bryan Jasmin placed fourth with a time of 14.89, while teammate
Dominick Lemonious finished closely behind at 14.91 for fifth place.
NCCU returns to action on Saturday, April 18 at the Elon Phoenix Invitational.
