DURHAM, N.C. – The Lady Eagles will be welcoming sunshine to Parkwood Athletic Field after having a three-game series washed out this past weekend as North Carolina Central University will host a non-conference doubleheader against Marist College on Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m.

North Carolina Central University SoftballNCCU is coming off a 6-1 road loss at Elon University on Friday. The Lady Eagles will have a chance to move back over .500 on Tuesday entering the day at 7-7 overall.

Martha Batie (.375) lead a NCCU lineup that is batting .279 on the season.
Other top hitters for the Lady Eagles include sophomore second baseman
Jenny Tracy (.289), sophomore pitcher/first baseman
Dominique Wilson (.282), junior designated hitter
Demiree Briones (.280) and junior shortstop
Kayleigh Brueck (.273).
NCCU has 10 home runs on the season including three by Germ and two apiece by Hargett and Briones.
Hargett also paces the Lady Eagles with four doubles and 12 runs scored atop the lineup. Batie leads the Maroon and Gray on the base paths with four stolen bases.
Wilson (2-4, 3.37 ERA, 43.2 IP, 37 SO) and junior
London Booker (5-3, 4.96 ERA, 42.1 IP, 32 SO) continue to perform at a high level sharing time in the pitcher's circle.
Defensively, the Lady Eagles have been up and down this season committing three or more errors in five contents while playing fundamentally sound games most of the time with zero or one errors in eight games.
In the two programs last meeting, NCCU suffered a pair of losses to Marist in the 2014 Mercer Bears Classic.
Marist College SoftballThe Red Foxes lost four of five games in the College of Charleston Tournament this past weekend to slip to 5-9 overall. Marist has yet to play a home game this season in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Marist is batting .252 and has three players batting over .300 in junior Maureen Duddy (.333), sophomore Janna Korak (.317) and sophomore Rebecca Freeman (.302).
Duddy and Korak join fellow outfielder in senior Taylor Kuzma (has not played in 2015) and junior shortstop Kyrsten Van Natta (.211) as All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) from a year ago.
The Red Foxes have a veteran pitching staff with seniors Melanie White (2-4, 4.57 ERA) and Janine Lalli (0-3, 11.23 ERA) supporting current sophomore ace Jayne Oberdorf (3-2, 3.41 ERA).
Marist defeated NCCU by scores of 3-1 and 6-1 last season.
