NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University senior catcher Emerie Germ has been named the MEAC Softball Player of the Week, while sophomore Dominique Wilson has been selected as the MEAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced Monday.
 
During the season-opening weekend, Germ (Canton, Ga.) hit 5-for-10 at the plate for a .500 batting average, a .545 on-base percentage and a 1.100 slugging percentage. On Saturday, she hit the eventual game-winning, three-run home run to beat Virginia 5-4, then entered the final game of the weekend against Delaware State as a pinch hitter with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning and smashed another game-winning, three-run home run for a 12-11 victory.
 
Wilson (Mooresville, N.C.) pitched a complete game victory with eight strikeouts in 5-4 win over Virginia for NCCU's first triumph over a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
