Emerie Germ has been named the MEAC Softball Player of the Week, while sophomore
Dominique Wilson has been selected as the MEAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced Monday.
During the season-opening weekend, Germ (Canton, Ga.) hit 5-for-10 at the plate for a .500 batting average, a .545 on-base percentage and a 1.100 slugging percentage. On Saturday, she hit the eventual game-winning, three-run home run to beat Virginia 5-4, then entered the final game of the weekend against Delaware State as a pinch hitter with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning and smashed another game-winning, three-run home run for a 12-11 victory.
Wilson (Mooresville, N.C.) pitched a complete game victory with eight strikeouts in 5-4 win over Virginia for NCCU's first triumph over a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
