NCCU STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: RACQUEL DAVIS

Women’s Basketball Senior Posted Double-Double Average in November

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University women's basketball senior Racquel Davis has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2014 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the court, in the classroom and in the community.
 
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Davis averaged 17.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.6 blocked shots per contest in five games during the month of November.
 
Davis was honored as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 24-30, averaging 23.5 points, 18.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in two games during that time. She amassed career-highs of 29 points and 19 rebounds versus Winthrop on Nov. 25, then led the Lady Eagles to a dramatic come-from-behind victory over UNC-Asheville with 18 points, 17 rebounds and five steals on Nov. 28.
 
Davis graduated from NCCU in August 2014 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She is currently pursuing a second degree in hospitality and tourism.
 
Among the community service initiatives Davis took part in during the fall semester, she joined teammates in assisting customers and organizing retail items at the Durham Rescue Mission Thrift Store.
